There's more to an investment loan than choosing low loan repayments and interest rates.

Tax and home equity are important considerations. For instance:

  • Tax: A couple can save capital gains tax payable on sale by splitting the title 80:20 instead of the usual 50:50, so that the partner with the lower income receives most of the capital gain (capital gains are taxed by adding the gain to a person’s income).
  • Home equity: An investment property can be 100% financed by borrowing against home equity.
  • Use positive cashflow from the investment property to pay down the home loan, so build up home equity to use to buy the next investment property.

Select an investment loan which suits all considerations.
